Conclusion
As you can see, this topic is one riddled with ‘what ifs’. A certain or correct answer cannot be reached but the more you go into the topic, the more questions are raised on whether we have the right to end someone’s life, even if they want it. Because at the end of the day we have to ask ourselves, do we really want someone’s blood on our hands?

That was very nicely written, i especially respect your blog for its neutrality :)
ReplyDeletePersonally, I am pro Euthanasia; but believe there should be a strict series of protocols governing the grounds for, and delivery of assisted suicide.
A person of sound mind, but in severe pain should definitely have the right to end their own life. The right of loved ones to decide the fate of relatives in vegetative states or in comas, is a far murkier and more difficult issue. If the subject is braindead, then I advocate the termination of life support, but if they have any chance of waking up with a fully functioning brain, then there should be protocols that agree to keep the subject on lifesupport until such a time as it is unlikely that they will rouse, as judged by impartial doctors; the government should then take the role of "executioner" (an inappropriate term of course), absolving other parties of guilt hindering potential family fueds and law suits on the issue.
I reposted my blog. If you want to know more infomation on the supercity then come along and check it out :) Unfortunately my Opinion piece doesnt quite compare to your beacon of neutrality.
Hay thanks for the feedback :)
ReplyDeleteI was also pro euthanasia when i began writing this blog, because if i was in that situation i would like to die with some dignity. But the more research i did and the more previous cases i read, it really made me think if i would be brave enough to make the decision for another family member who was in a veg-state?
hhmm i don't know.. its a really tough decsion...
